Harrington Park Mom's Group Leader Stages Youth Fundraiser In Ridgewood

HARRINGTON PARK, N.J.– Renee Jensen of Harrington Park needed a female support system after moving from Wyoming to Bergen County with her two children following her divorce, so she started the Facebook group "Mommies Time Out."

"It's not easy to talk about these things," Jensen said.

The group, she said, is for those "trying to find a friend to relate to that you can lean on so you can be a happier person"

On March 19, Jensen will host a fundraiser called "Mommies Time Out For a Cause" in Ridgewood.

"It's more of a social setting," the South Korean-born Jensen told Daily Voice. "Moms can bring their kids and we centered the activities around that."

Families can pay the $10 donation online or at the door and receive complimentary services. All proceeds will benefit the Bergen Volunteer Center's Youth Mentor Program.

"The day will be filled with mommy and me classes, mini facials, reiki massage sessions and more," Jensen said.

Helpers will also be on hand to watch the kids while mom's get pampered, she added.

"It's all about trying to create a happier mom," Jensen said about MTO. "The group has evolved organically.

"It is a closed group and the page is a safe space for women to talk about the joys and struggles of motherhood and being a woman."

While Jensen works full-time as a managing director for an insurance broker, Mommies Time Out is more than a side gig.

"I feel like this is my calling," she said. "It's really exciting."
