Callahan's, Norwood

Frank Talk: Callahan's continues to win-- and wow -- customers with its inventive housemade toppings, strict quality control and high-quality meat. The same principles that guided this eatery since 1950 continues with the next generation, now a huge Facebook force and Instagram darling.

What made this place famous (the original Fort Lee shop closed in 2006) -- and what still holds true today -- are the pork/beef blend of ripper style (fried) hot dogs. Hot dogs are available in "original" size (9-inch long) and "super" size (more than a foot long). Add the creative flair of Chef Danny Fabian and Owner Daniel DeMiglio, and you've got a recipe for fun -- think 48-hour marinated pulled pork as a topping (or on its own) along with fresh seasonal and popular ingredients such as mango and bacon.

DeMiglio, a third grandson of the founder, relaunched his family's beloved business three years ago, starting with the food truck. That proved so popular, the Norwood brick-and-mortar store followed.
