OLD TAPPAN, N.J. -- The weekend was a lucky one for two New Jersey residents with one winning the $1 million jackpot on Saturday and the other picking the right numbers to win Sunday's Jersey Cash 5 game.
The winning $1 million ticket was purchased in Bergen County at Garden State News at 216 Old Tappan Road in Old Tappan. The only problem? The player didn't pick a Powerplay number for a chance at doubling their winnings to $2 million.
The winning numbers for the Saturday, June 18, drawing were: 2, 23, 41, 53 and 63. The Red Power Ball number was 11. The Multiplier number was 2. The Powerball jackpot rolls to $184,000,000 for the next drawing to be held Wednesday, June 22.
In addition to the winner, two people won $50,000; 29,851 New Jersey players took home an estimated $147,513 in prizes ranging from $4 to $200, according to Lottery Executive Director Carole Hedinger.
“Congratulations to the fortunate lottery players whose tickets were big prizewinners,” said Hedinger. “These lucky players now join the growing ranks of New Jersey Powerball winners.”
The second winning ticket worth $152, 373, was sold at the Food Mart, 240 Market St., Elmwood Park.
Hedinger said the top prizewinning ticket was the only one sold for Sunday’s drawing that matched all five numbers drawn. The winning numbers were: 1, 2, 3, 12, and 28.
“We are pleased that the winning jackpot ticket was sold at Food Mart,” said Hedinger. “For selling this ticket, the retailer will receive a bonus check for $2,000. Overnight, it has become one more ‘lucky location’ for the very fortunate lottery winner.”
Hedinger also noted that 3,147 other players won $58,224 in cash prizes in the Sunday drawing. For correctly picking four numbers, 98 players won cash prizes of $283 each, and for correctly matching three numbers, 3,049 players won $10 each.
