Antonio Velazquez II, 50, Northvale Resident

NORTHVALE, N.J. -- Antonio Velazquez II, a Northvale resident and formerly of Union City, died Sunday, Jan. 3. He was 50.

A U.S. Army veteran, Velazquez also was a graduate of La Salle Academy and Fairleigh Dickinson University. He worked for New York Life as an insurance agent.

Velazquez enjoyed kung fu and collecting comic books, and he was a political science, music, science fiction and sports car enthusiast. He enjoyed supporting his favorite teams, the New York Mets and the New England Patriots.

He is survived by his wife, Anna D’Emilio; brother Carlos Velazquez and his wife Evelyn; sister Iris Negron and her husband Edward; mother-in-law of Maria D’Emilio, Carmine and Christine D’Emilio, Lena D’Emilio and fiancé Joseph Durante and Diana and Stephen Zondorak; nephews and nieces Jason, Victoria, Layla, Brandon, Adam, Austin, Steven and Abigail; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Velazquez was predeceased by his parents, Antonio and Iraida Velazquez; and stepfather Gil Francisco.

Visiting hours are from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8, at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Ave., Northvale. A funeral Mass will be conducted at 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, at St. Anthony’s, in Northvale. Entombment will follow at Mount Hope Mausoleum in Hastings-On-Hudson.
