Arrangements for Justin Demmie, 32, have not been made public yet.
Demmie was remembered by many as a humble and kind man.
Several staff and faculty members at Hackensack High School say Demmie was always the last person they saw before leaving the building.
"I wish heaven had a phone so I could hear you say, one last time, 'Good night,'" Councilman and aide at the school David Sims said.
"Rest In Peace Justin, until we me again. Leaving work at the high school just won't be the same."
"He was a beautiful soul that always had a smile," Cori McAuliffe Carroll added.
Friends and family sent condolences to Demmie's mother, Jacqeuline Eason Parham.
"I am deeply saddened by the loss of such a humble and kind man," Jenae Lynn said.
"I had the pleasure of working with Justin and every time I saw him, he always had a smile on his face.
"Thank you, Justin, for all you have done for our Hackensack Schools family. We will miss you. Heaven gained another angel. Rest In Peace."
