NORWOOD, N.J. -- Joseph A. Garofalo, a resident of Norwood, died Monday, Feb.8. He was 83.
Garofalo was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a professor of textile science at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City for more than 40 years and had been a trustee and treasurer of the Federal Teachers’ Credit Union, as well as treasurer of the United Federation of Teachers.
He is survived by his wife Frances; children Marianna Perry and her husband Ben (B.J.) of Oakland and Vincent and his wife Colleen of East Brunswick; grandchildren Melissa, Ryan, Jenna, Joseph, Sarah and Tyler; and sister Frances D'Andrea of Norwood. .A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception RC Church, Norwood with entombment to follow at Madonna Mausoleum in Fort Lee. Visiting hours are from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Ave., Northvale.
