Alpine police seek black sedan that put two 9W bicyclists in hospital

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: Alpine police were looking for a hitl-and-run driver who sent two bicyclists to Englewood Hospital this afternoon with injuries that they said weren’t life-threatening.

The crash occurred around 1 p.m. on southbound Route 9W near Exit 2 of the Palisades Interstate Parkway, Police Chief Christopher J. Belcolle said.

The passenger side of the black sedan hit one of the riders, who they crashed into the other, taking both down, Belcolle said.

The sedan had damage on the passenger side front quarter-panel extending to the area of the side mirror and/or door, the chief said.

Also responding were Palisades Interstate Parkway police, the Demarest and Haworth volunteer ambulance corps., Norwood EMS workers and an ALS paramedic unit from Englewood Hospital.
