YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: After a search by the Bergen County Bomb Squad, River Vale police arrested a former worker at Jewish Home Assisted Living who they said threatened to blow up his ex-employer’s car.

An employee at the senior community told borough police that 59-year-old Mohamed M. Foda of Piermont called and “threatened to bomb his former employer’s car in retaliation for his firing,” River Vale Sgt. John DeVoe said tonight.

Police cordoned off the area near the boss’s vehicle and called for the bomb squad as a precaution, DeVoe said.

The area was eventually cleared “after a diligent search of the vehicle and surrounding areas” by a bomb tech and a county police K-9 unit, he said.

With assistance from their Old Tappan colleagues, River Vale police took Foda into custody at 195 Old Tappan Road and charged him with making terroristic threats, DeVoe said.

He was released pending a May 7 Municipal Court appearance ( MUGSHOT: River Vale PD ).

River Vale Police Chief Michael J. McCann thanked the staffs of Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli, Bergen County Police Chief Brian Higgins and the Old Tappan Police Department for their assistance.
