Jaquan A. Suber remained held in the Bergen County Jail pending the detention hearing before Superior Court Judge James X. Sattely in Hackensack.
He is charged with aggravated assault -- for pointing an illegal handgun at police -- along with weapons offenses, , Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal said.Suber had been fighting with his landlord when police came to the house, Grewal said.
He then pointed the gun at the officers "under circumstances manifesting extreme indifference," Grewal said.
The officers sustained facial injuries in the Sept.. 3 confrontation.
As with all police shootings, the prosecutor is reviewing the incident under guidelines established by New Jersey’s attorney general’s office:

Suber was originally in critical but stable condition at Hackensack University Medical Center before his condition improved and he was transferred to the jail.

THE CHARGES AGAINST SUBER:
- Possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, specifically to use it unlawfully against Fort Lee police officers;
- Possession of a handgun without obtaining a permit;
- Pointing a firearm under circumstances manifesting extreme indifference, specifically by pointing it at Fort Lee police officers.
