The public is invited to view the vehicles starting at 9 a.m. before bidding starts about two hours later.
“As far as fighting fires goes, they are not up to code, they may be obsolete," Fire Chief Ed Rejmaniack said. "But if an firetruck or an antiques collector wants them, they're working."The trucks will be auctioned off individually, with starting bids of $5,000 on the 1971 CF Mack 600 model at 22,852 miles; and the 1982 Mack MC model at 11,171 miles. Both are listed in good condition. The department will also auction a 2000 BMW 745 series car with a starting bid of $2,000. It is listed in fair condition with 75,000 miles.
The vehicles will be sold on a cash basis and must be removed from the lot within 24 hours of the sale. The department plans to auction additional items afterwards, the chief said.
