The drug investigators were in the area of 10th Avenue and East 26th Street in Paterson Tuesday night when they saw a blue Hyundai Elantra pull to the curb and a drug deal conducted, Berdnik said.

They followed and then stopped the car, he said.

Inside, they noticed 26-year-old Preston Henwood of Jefferson Township, PA carrying a holstered Glock handgun, the sheriff said.

He was also concealing a bundle of heroin in his right hand, Berdnik said.

Preston, who has a carry permit in Pennsylvania, was disarmed and arrested he said.

Driver Kathryn Driscoll, 23, of Gouldsboro, PA was also arrested after handing over four bundles of heroin, Berdnik said.

Driscoll was later charged with possession of heroin and released.

Preston was charged with drug and weapons possession and ordered held without bail in the Passaic County Jail pending a detention hearing.
