Port Authority officer arrests upstate NY driver, seizes shotgun, shells outside Holland Tunnel

BEYOND BERGEN: A Port Authority police officer turned up a 12-gauge shotgun and a baker’s dozen of shells in a car driven by an update New York man outside the Holland Tunnel last night.

The officer stopped the 2002 Chevy SUV driven by 24-year-old Adam L. Cook for faulty lights around 7:45 p.m. at 13th and Provost streets in Jersey City, the authority’s Joseph Pentangelo told CLIFFVIEW PILOT this morning.

Cook volunteered that he had the Winchester firearm near the cargo door after the officer spotted the box of shells in the center console, Pentangelo said.

He was charged with illegal weapons possession and issued a traffic summons.
