OLD TAPPAN, N.J. – Two brothers were charged with selling hash-oil cartridges from a family-owned Old Tappan convenience store that sources said ended up in the hands of high-schoolers.

Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal said a series of raids Wednesday at the Garden State News on Old Tappan Road and the defendants’ home on Winding Creek turned up:
  • $100,627 in cash that was seized and bank accounts that were frozen;
  • 215 hash oil vaporizer cartridges;
  • several packages of THC-infused edibles;
  • marijuana;
  • Adderall pills;
  • drug packaging materials.

The total value of the drugs seized was roughly $20,000, Grewal said Saturday, adding that the hash-oil cartridges were used for vaporizer pens (“vapes”).

Shahzeb Ahmed, 27, was arrested at the store, Grewal said. Salman Ahmed, 19, turned himself in on Friday, he said.

Both were charged with various drug offenses and money laundering and ordered to appear in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack on Nov. 22.

Grewal thanked Old Tappan and Dumont police for their work on the case.
