In doing so, they may have solved several break-ins in surrounding towns.

A Beacon Street resident dialed 911 just before 10 a.m. after seeing James Georgio peering through window’s on her neighbor’s deck, Lt. Thomas Ryan told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

Less than two minutes after responding Officer James Morgan broadcast a description, Officers Thomas Reinecke and Alex Yannuzzi saw Georgio riding a skateboard north on Garfield Street.

They questioned him and “his story was not making sense at all,” Ryan said.

He was also carrying the stolen coins, the lieutenant said.

As colleagues notified the victimized homeowner and summoned the Bergen County Sheriff’s Bureau of Criminal Identification, Reinecke and Yannuzzi brought Georgio to headquarters.

Questioned by Detective Sgt. Justin Fox, he admitted entering through a back door, going into a master bedroom and taking the coins.

BCI detectives lifted fingerprints off the windows that they said could be a match in other burglaries. Police from several area jurisdictions were interested.

Meanwhile, Georgio was being held on $50,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, charged with burglary and theft.
