NORTHVALE, N.J. -- Richard Rene Riendeau, of Northvale, died on Wednesday, April 20. He was 79.

Riendeau graduated from Amherst College, Harvard University and Bowden College. He was a math teacher and supervisor for 35 years at Northern Valley Regional High School. He had a passion for learning and attended many summer institutes.

After retiring, Riendeau pursued numerous hobbies, including art and history. He enjoyed traveling the world with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Rosetta (Zambri) Riendeau; daughter Shelly Masterson and her husband Larry; grandchildren Michael and Kayla; siblings Roger Riendeau, David Riendeau, and Elaine Wdowiak and her husband Ronnie; sisters-in-law Mary Lou Zambri and Carmel Zambrano; and many nieces and nephews.

Riendeau was predeceased by his sister-in-law Carmine.

Visiting hours will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, April 22, at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Ave., in Northvale. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Community Gospel Church, 430 Birchwood Rd., in Northvale.
