Demarest police are seeking the public’s help in identifying how an imitation device initially thought to be an explosive ended up in a storage locker at Northern Valley Regional High School.
Although it turned out to be possibly a hoax or prank, the discovery prompted the evacuation of the school yesterday afternoon.
Police Chief James Powderley described the device only as “a little more sophisticated” than an alarm clock.
He asked that anyone with information about its origin call his department: (201) 768-1540) .
Or leave an anonymous tip at: www.wetip.com or 1-800-78-CRIME .
