Pedestrian Struck In Old Tappan

OLD TAPPAN, N.J. -- A 71-year-old Northvale woman who was struck by a car pulling out of an Old Tappan driveway Wednesday night sustained injuries that police said didn't appear life-threatening.

A 47-year-old female driver was exiting the driveway of a commercial building at 184 Central Avenue near Old Tappan Road when the crash occurred just after 9 p.m., Police Chief Thomas Shine told Daily Voice.

AirMed One was originally scheduled to land at Northern Valley Regional High School, but Shine said the victim was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center by ambulance.

The Old Tappan First Aid Corps and HUMC paramedics responded, he said.

An investigation was continuing, the chief said.
