The production begins with concession sales of old-style New York street food favorites from 6:45-7:15 p.m. outside the gym.

The students will be selling "Sandy" stuffed dolls for $5 each, with the proceeds donated to the Graham Windham Orphanage in New York City.

"The idea was to give back as much as we could, and this felt like a nice way to do that," said Nina Osso, who portrays the colorful red-headed orphan -- and will be attending Bergen County Academy for Theater Arts in the fall.

Besides selling the dolls, they youngsters have included a QR code in the show's Playbill to scan where further donations can be made.

The entire 8th-grade class will be either performing or working on the stage crew -- a long-held district tradition.

Curtain is at 7:30 p.m.
